About Stokesley
Stokesley is a market town in the Hambleton district of North Yorkshire, at the foot of the Cleveland Hills on the banks of the River Leven. With a population of around 4,500 it has the feel of a proper community — independent shops along the High Street, a traditional Friday market on The Plain, and a strong sense of local pride.
The town's history stretches back to the Domesday Book, and much of its architectural heritage is preserved within a Conservation Area. Stokesley is known for its Georgian townscape and its annual agricultural show, one of the oldest in the region.
