Markets
Stokesley has been a market town for centuries, holding a charter that dates back to the medieval period. Today the market tradition continues with two regular markets on The Plain at the heart of the town.
Friday Market
Every Friday, a traditional street market fills The Plain with stalls selling fresh local produce, meat, vegetables, clothing, household goods, and more. It's been a fixture of Stokesley life for generations and remains a popular weekly event for locals and visitors alike.
Note: parking on The Plain is not permitted on Friday market days.
Farmers Market
On the first Saturday of each month, a Farmers Market takes place on The Plain, bringing together local producers selling seasonal food and drink, artisan goods, and handmade produce direct from the farm.
Note: parking on the cobbled areas around The Plain is restricted on Farmers Market Saturdays.
Stokesley Agricultural Show
The Stokesley Agricultural Show is held every year on the third Thursday in September — one of the oldest agricultural shows in the North of England, founded in 1859. The show takes over the High Street, The Plain, and College Square, so parking in the town centre is unavailable on show day. Plan ahead if you're visiting.
